Summary
Our Norfolk, VA office is looking to hire a mid level Architect who can Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard architectural techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptation and modifications.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of projects assigned to him or her.
2. Assures that the client shall receive the designs and opinions described in the contract between the firm and the client, and that the cost of the project shall be within established budgets.
3. Occasionally represents the organization in meetings to resolve important questions, and to plan and coordinate work.
4. Receives instructions from Project Manager or Senior Project Architects on specific-assignment objectives, complex features, and possible solutions.
5. Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects.
6. Requires the use of advanced techniques and practices of the architectural field and related sciences and disciplines. Selects and recommends procedures.
7. Writes reports and specifications covering architectural matters.
8. May be responsible for phases of a single revenue-producing project.
9. Work requires consistent exercise of initiative and independent judgment in performing work assignments.
10. Assignments have clear and specified objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables.
11. Performs architectural assignments under direction but not immediate supervision and with limited responsibility for design.
12. Uses computer to run programs in order to solve design problems.
13. Ability to create and maintain project records. Maintains project data by entering and backing up data.
14. Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations.
15. Keeps manager's informed of workload and any changes in project scope or additional services.
16. Maintain neat and organized work area that allows efficient access to project information as required by other team members.
17. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
18. Development of management skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Occasionally and up to routinely, assumes responsibility for other architects and/or technicians.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Minimum of a Bachelor of Architecture degree (B. Arch.) and at least 6 years of experience. Experience in using Building Information Modeling (BIM) software a plus.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as codes, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to work with mathematical fundamental concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Registration as a licensed Architect is required. LEED AP certification a plus.
