Laundry Facility - Utility

Job Description
The Crestline Hospitality Services is a laundry facility supporting several Crestline Hotels in the Virginia Beach/Chesapeake area. We are actively seeks a new person to join our team. This position would support three main areas: linen delivery (driving a company linen truck), one site laundry duties, and additional maintenance preventative care responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.
2. Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
3. Timely and efficient driving and delivery/pick up of linen to hotels.
4. Ensure equipment receives periodic preventative maintenance.
5. Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
6. Work with chemical and machine repair personnel to repair machines, improve quality or standards, increase productivity or capacity of machines.
7. Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas
8. Use cleaning chemicals according to OSHA regulations and hotel requirements.
9. Adhere to all Health Department, sanitation and safety regulations.
10. Set up and organize work station with designated supplies and equipment; replenish as needed throughout the shift.
11. Monitor usage of chemicals and water to maximize consumption.
12. Separate soiled bed linen/terry/food and beverage table linens; bundle and document amounts of each bundle.
13. Sort all stained/damaged items and determine status for rewash or discard; maintain continuous inventory of discard items.
14. Remove all debris on floors after each sorting.
15. Weigh each bundle of soiled items; place designated weights in the laundry machines.
16. Operate all laundry machines and add designated chemicals in accordance with specified amounts, times and temperatures for the particular articles to be washed.
17. Remove washed articles from the washing machine when the cycle is complete. Inspect cleanliness and place in clean linen carts.
18. Transport cart of washed linen to dryers and place in dryers according to load size. Set dryers to designated times and temperatures for the particular articles to be dried.
19. Remove articles from dryer when cycle is complete and place in clean linen cart. Transport cart to proper work area for finishing.
20. Operate the ironing and folder machines. Check the cleanliness and condition of articles while processing through the machines; separate damaged/stained articles.
21. Fold cleaned articles and stack into designated amounts by type and size. Place stacks in specified areas for distribution.
22. Separate stained/damaged hotel uniforms and determine status for repair, re-cleaning or discard; maintain continuous inventory of discard uniforms.
23. Maintain accurate poundage records of dry cleaning and laundry.
24. Report faulty equipment, damaged garments/linens, shortages, maintenance needs, safety hazards and problems to supervisor.
25. Remove lint and debris from dryer filters and change filters.
26. Transport trash containers to dumpster; empty and clean accordingly. Adhere to recycling procedures.
27. Breakdown and clean work areas/equipment and restock work area as needed.
28. Use designated chemicals, supplies and equipment to clean laundry room floor.
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:
1. Good understanding of the English language.
2. Good driving record and ability to drive a company linen truck
3. Ability to:

Desirable:
1. High school graduate or equivalent vocational training.
2. Previous experience in similar position.
3. Knowledge of laundry/dry cleaning equipment and chemical handling.
4. Knowledge of finishing techniques for all types of fabrics.
5. Knowledge of proper chemical handling.
6. Previous guest relations training.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

1. Exert physical effort in lifting/transporting at least 50 pounds.
2. Push/pull carts or equipment up to 250 pounds.
3. Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas.
4. Reach 12 inches/feet.
5. Must be able to stand and exert well paced mobility for up to 8-hours in length.
6. Satisfactorily communicate with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding.
7. Work environment – Laundry and linen rooms, linen chute area, service landings. Job involves working under variable temperature conditions (especially prolonged heat), and noise levels, in indoor settings, and around fumes and/or odor hazards, dust and/or mite hazards, and chemicals.
